At a first glance, Ballroom Spies may appear more like the cast of Captain Planet (minus the blue guy) than like an up and coming alt rock project. Though their musical influences and backgrounds seem to vary accordingly, the members possess no lack of common ground. Bhauraw says laughingly, "It seems kind of ridiculous to say I play in a rock band and my influences are Jay-Z and Franz Liszt." A good appreciation for all genres of music and an accepting attitude are two pertinent components that hold BS (yes, we know) together.

That and a passion for the current issues that plague society as we know it. "I feel a great deal of responsibility being an artist not only as an entertainer but as an informant," Elissa says. "The idea is to write in a way that is very listenable and also presents new concepts. Even if you disagree, we've still managed to jumpstart that train of thought if you like the song enough to hear us out."

The band met on account of their love of live performance. Other previous and current projects include Alright, Junior., Among Criminals, Hot Brush, Juliet, Karma Bat, La Violencia, Molly Rhythm, and Upbeat Manifest (now Manifested). The members had been previously acquainted and when La Violencia's Steve Slaughter (drums), Chris Mario and Bhauraw Avhad (guitars) parted ways, Elissa was thrilled to step into the freshly vacated vocal position. "I'd always admired and enjoyed La V's music. I was bummed that they broke up but so excited to work together." Alright, Junior.'s frontman Jace Miller picked up the bass and adds supporting vocal stylings to complete the line up.

Now the newly formed Ballroom Spies is proud and ecstatic to present their debut self titled album for his and her auditory pleasure. The record will be dropped in December of 2012. Enjoy!
